SLabsForums™
SLabsForums™ introduces an alternative type of collaboration tool within the research organization that overcomes many of the security risks and limitations of using the corporate email system as a research discussion platform.
A significant amount of shared research knowledge resides in the daily email conversations between research scientists within project teams. Growing email traffic has sometimes overwhelmed the ability for individuals to manage project communication and private emails. In addition, this (public) historical knowledge is generally not available to researchers not on the email distribution list. Consequently critical knowledge is only available to a very limited audience.
SLabsForums™ software provides a secure and distinct platform for creating and managing discussion communities within the research team and for organizing the discussion threads to makes them available for searching by authorized members of the research team. In addition, SLabsForums™, can be set up to facilitate secure discussion forums with outside collaboration teams and partners.
SLabsForums™ encompasses the following capabilities:

Administrators can create any number of discussion forums, with each forum focused on a a particular relevant research topic (e.g., projects, core groups, departments)

Administrators can create and manage user and group privileges to authroize user access to discussion forums

Users can post new discussion topics or reply to existing topics

Users can set up alerting mechanisms to be alerted when new replies are available on a topic

Users can set up their RSS readers to monitor a particular discussion forum
SLabsForum™ is based on robust open source software and is configured to be searchable by the semantic querying capability of the SLabsSearch™ Desktop application.
